At 3studio, we were thrilled to contribute to Time Bandits, the imaginative fantasy adventure series created by Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris, and Taika Waititi. Based on Terry Gilliam’s beloved 1981 film, the series brought a fresh perspective to the classic time-traveling heist story, packed with comedy, adventure, and eccentric characters.
Starring Lisa Kudrow as Penelope, Kal-El Tuck as Kevin, Tadhg Murphy as Alto, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva as Widgit, Rune Temte as Bittelig, Charlyne Yi as Judy, Rachel House as Fianna, and Kiera Thompson as Saffron, Time Bandits followed a ragtag group of thieves on a journey through time and space, with their newest recruit—an eleven-year-old history nerd—along for the ride. The show balanced humor and spectacle, offering a high-energy, family-friendly adventure that introduced a new generation to the Time Bandits universe.
Our work on the series involved recording ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement), ensuring seamless dialogue and vocal performances throughout its fast-paced and often chaotic storytelling. With the characters jumping through different historical eras and encountering all sorts of mischief, ADR played a crucial role in enhancing the show’s immersive and dynamic feel.
