ADR, Voiceover & Dialogue Recording in Sheffield
3studio is a Sheffield-based ADR and voiceover recording facility. Our work includes ADR recording on Adolescence - winner of multiple Emmy Awards and a Music+Sound Award.
Some of the broadcasters and studios we've worked with include Amazon Studios, Apple TV, BBC, CBS, Channel 4, Channel 5, Discovery+, FX, Hulu, ITV Studios, Netflix, Paramount, Sky Kids, Star Channel, Universal, Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros, Warp Films and Working Title.
ADR
ADR is what we do most. Actors record dialogue against picture, one at a time, with an engineer running the session and a director - in the room or dialling in - steering every take.
Sessions can be directed remotely over Zoom, with Source-Connect available too, so a director anywhere in the world gets the same real-time control as being in Sheffield. A 12" iPad Pro in the suite handles the video call, so talent and director can see each other throughout, while the audio itself is routed directly from Pro Tools into Zoom or Source-Connect.
Voiceover & Dialogue
The same suite, engineer and signal chain are available for voiceover and dialogue recording - narration, commercials, animation dialogue and anything else that needs a clean, controlled recording environment and someone who knows how to get the best take, fast. Animation credits include extensive work on Sky Kids' Ten Little Who? and its Christmas special, Ten Little Elves. On the commercial side, we've recorded dialogue for brands including Virgin Media O2, via creative studio Girl&Bear, and we're comfortable working under NDA when a campaign calls for it.
The Suite
Sessions are run to suit whoever's in front of the mic, from experienced adult actors to children recording for the first time.
Talent works from a dedicated ADR suite - not a cramped booth, but a proper recording space - with a 28" display for picture and script reference, a 12" iPad Pro for the video call with the director, and a small sofa with room for whoever comes along. Actors often bring a friend or relative, and children are always accompanied by a parent or guardian. One performer records at a time, run throughout from an adjoining control room.
