At 3studio, we were thrilled to contribute to the highly anticipated TV sequel of the iconic British comedy The Full Monty. It’s been 25 years since the original cast first stole hearts and made audiences laugh with their unforgettable striptease act. Now, they’re back in a new series, taking us on a heartfelt and humorous journey to see how their lives have evolved over the decades.
The original film, a smash hit in 1997, followed a group of unemployed steelworkers from Sheffield—played by Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy, William Snape, Steve Huison, Tom Wilkinson, Paul Barber, and Hugo Speer—who turned to male stripping to raise money in hard times. The poignant yet comedic story resonated with audiences around the world and became a cultural touchstone.
In the new TV series, the same band of brothers is still navigating life in Sheffield. Decades on, they’re dealing with the challenges of today’s society, from strained healthcare systems to crumbling education and employment sectors. While the striptease days are behind them, their sense of humour, camaraderie, and determination to make the best of things remain as strong as ever.
Our work on this project involved recording ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement), ensuring the dialogue sounds pitch-perfect and blends seamlessly into the series’ authentic Sheffield backdrop. It’s been an honour to collaborate on a project that revisits such a beloved classic, capturing the charm, wit, and emotional depth that made The Full Monty a global phenomenon.
With the return of the original cast and a fresh yet familiar narrative, The Full Monty TV series promises to bring both nostalgia and new stories to the screen. It’s a testament to the enduring appeal of these characters and the world they inhabit.
Be sure to tune in to The Full Monty TV series and catch up with the lads as they take on life’s new challenges with the same humour and heart that made them iconic.
