New Event: Get Equipped

3studio is proud to sponsor Get Equipped 2019.

Saturday 19th October, 11am-6pm. Electric Works, Digital Campus, Sheffield, S1 2BJ

Sort Of... Films presents Get Equipped.

Get Equipped is a FREE hands-on, face-to-face event with kit, experts and peers to boost skills, increase knowledge and spark creativity.

Professionals | Students | Tech-Nerds | Creatives | Hobbyists

There are so many people who are or want to be involved in image-making, whether those images are moving or static. One of the things that unites all of us, regardless of experience level, is the desire to understand and be confident using technology: cameras, lenses, microphones, lights, grip equipment, drones, computer hardware and so much more.

Get Equipped is a new, not-for-profit event for creatives and technical people to mingle, share stories and ideas and get hands-on with kit that they might not have tried before. There will be workshops, demonstrations, talks with industry-experienced professionals and market-stalls selling second-hand gear. By the end of the day, we hope you will have acquired new skills, knowledge, confidence, contacts, ideas… and maybe a bargain or two.

Among a number of to be confirmed additions, Get Equipped 2019 will feature…

  • Headline guest speaker Jonathan Young (Lighting Cameraman / Documentary DoP; Stacey Dooley – Russia’s War on Women, The Americas With Simon Reeve, Ross Kemp Extreme World)
  • Panel discussion hosted by The South Yorkshire Filmmakers Network: “Making a high-profile Short Film: technology and techniques”
  • 30 minute discussion plus Q&A session with Richard Knight of Screen Yorkshire (This is England, Ackley Bridge)
  • 30 minute talk on post production and sound by Susan Pennington (Post Sound – The Virtues)
  • Several 10-15 min presentations from regional organisations and companies such as Screen Yorkshire and 3studio in Sheffield
  • 4-6 film/video/audio technology demonstrations by regional professionals
  • A handful of stalls at which local/regional companies/crew can sell their used equipment
  • A handful of exhibitors including Pro-Vision
  • Networking opportunities
  • Exhibitions of local photography, film and video, providing a window into the heart of Sheffield’s creative field
  • Interactive tech-focused games
